My dad showed me this special place. We still have photos of it hanging in our house from his days at W&L. The rough rocks and the steep mountains alongside the river remind me fondly of the Rio Grande. I cannot wait to bask in the sun atop said rocks and gaze at said mountains during Spring Term. Please come join me.

This dress is a vehicle that transforms me into a mountaintop goddess. Clothes are not simply garments we use to cover ourselves; an outfit is an artistic creation with the power to evoke a feeling in its wearer that can transcend place and time.
When I first saw this dress, when I first ran my fingers through its blue chiffon pleats, my mind was transported to the mountains. The thought of how beautiful this dress would look blowing in the wind brought to my mind the image of a bird soaring above the blue ridge, its blue feathers complemented by the mountains and the sky.
Of course, this dress is by the brand Free People. Their style is classic, bohemian, and expressive. They love to play with different prints, textures, and silhouettes in their beautifully made clothing. The Free People girl is confident and adventurous, and this dress captures her spirit perfectly.
A garment evokes different images, associations, and feelings in each person. Everyone has the ability to work a garment into her own unique outfit that captures the essence of her own fantasy. When I wore this dress, I became a mountaintop goddess, ready to take flight.

To celebrate the advent of spring 2018, Elspeth sported some electric tartan pants, which may or may not be the best $10 H&M find to date....
The reversible j.crew sweater (purchased for $2.99 at citywalkthriftstore with the original tags still on, I might add) was another one of today's outfit's necessities. The fur coat was added to help Elspeth blend in to her surroundings so she can spook people and also to cover up whatever yellow curry from dhall she spilled on her sweater during lunch.
And the silver boots...Well, they speak for themselves.

When I'm waiting around in an airport, I like to stand there in the news stores and read magazines and not buy them. I flip through the pages. I absorb the confidence radiating from the models in the designer ads, and I try my best to apply it to my daily life.
Top: Gifted from my lovely friend Caroline
Jeans: Upcycled from 8th grade
Necklaces: LOFT & Tiffany
Well, clearly I'm still loving my shades. Seriously. Best $7 ever spent and I am in now way being sponsored to say this.
BUY YOURSELF SOME, DANG IT
