and on that day.... I turned a long sleeve tee INTO A HALTER TOP!
Here's How I worked my magic (and how you can too!)
*** You should wear a tight bandeau for this to work. These can be purchased anywhere (here's one from Forever21.com.) Start with a stretchy jersey cotton tee. Cut a slit in the back of the shirt and stop cutting about six inches from the neckline. (Mine conveniently already had a slit.)
Hold the shirt as shown making sure that the side without the slit is the side touching your back.
Cross the sleeves as shown, and tie a single knot behind your neck.
Wrap one half of the split tee around your chest, and tuck the tip into your tight bandeau. (If you're afraid it won't stay, feel free to use a handy dandy safety pin.)
Wrap the other half of the split tee around your chest, and tuck it into the other side of your bandeau.
You can pair this top with your favorite tennis skirt, a pair of culottes or jeans, or a pair of nice funky shorts. Here I'm wearing my mom's tennis skirt, some statement earrings from H&M (more here) and my go-to summer slides from TJ Maxx (more here).
as always, I encourage you rework old items just sittin' around in your closet, or visit your local thrift store, and buy something just so you can cut it up and make it your own!
Now don't sit here and think that you can't pull this off. I'm here to tell you that you're wrong! Be bold, and be unique. Know that you'll be respected for having the confidence to reveal your creative side.
