Here, we've got a nice conglomeration of art. But we're not just talking about the palm tree paintings. This wide-set gingham top is one of my favorite shirts of all time. It's so large and oddly shaped that it pretty much swallows me whole, and quite frankly I don't think any other girl my age would wear anything like it. Ever. So that's probably exactly why i like it so much.
I love the minimalism of pairing it with a simple black pleated (VINTAGE TENNIS!!!) skirt and sandals because this draws the attention to the totally unconventional shape of the outfit, which is so refreshing to me.
Wearing something with such a bold shape like this makes me feel uniquely myself because it draws attention to me by making me stand out. This shirt quite literally says to everyone: this girl doesn't give a crap about being like everyone else. And personally, I think I've been giving a few too many craps lately, so I'm going to remind myself to stop. And go buy more oddly shaped shirts at the freaking thrift store for $2 on half off day. Because you know what? That's what eighth-grade Elspeth would do, and I will stubbornly and passionately carry her irritating yet nonetheless confident and hopeful spirit with me until the love of my life can finally put her to rest in the hovel that was my bottom locker by the girls bathroom in middle school.
Now go wear something weird today like I plan to and stick it to the man because
I. Dare. You.
