What a nice transition into fall. It's that perfect weather, the kind where you wake up and put on a jacket, knowing you will have the pleasure of taking it off come eleven o'clock when the sun shines on you.
Here we have the ultimate transitional outfit, a funky top complete with a neutral black skirt and colorful booties. Allow me to carry on about the fact that this skirt is, in fact, a tennis skirt. I love the versatility of vintage pleated tennis skirts even more than I love fall, unquestionably.
This top makes the perfect piece for fall because I could totally throw a grey turtleneck under it and not look like a dork. With a silver necklace and some silver hoops, you know it would look pretty cool. The crisp, structured make of this top is what makes it so great to layer. This would be for those days when we need the extra layer because it's ~windy~.
But for now, we'll be glad that it's still 70 degrees and keep it casual with some cool red boots. Stay tuned for a turtleneck styling when Lexington turns into Antarctica in a few weeks.

Two months ago, I thought I'd found the coolest hotel ever. But I was wrong.
The hotel my parents stayed at during parents' weekend, the Howard Johnson in Lexington, VA, has the most aesthetically pleasing architecture I have ever seen, inside and out. Orange is my favorite color. It's really rare that you see a place that takes a statement color like bright orange and totally makes it work as an integral part of the design. I felt only a statement outfit like this matching two piece patterned jumpsuit would do this hotel justice. So here we are....

So, I'm all for repurposing my high school tennis uniform. Aren't you?! If anyone has any tennis attire they don't want....I'm here........and I can't promise I won't wear it with some kind of weird turtleneck or sructured white blouse or something else totally not meant to be worn on a tennis court. But this is the new athleisure. This is about celebrating the comfort of elastic waistbands in every day life. This is about totally recreating the concept of an outfit so you don't have to pay for new clothes. This is about wearing stuff that you wouldn't think to put together and making it work with a pair of cool earrings. I think that last sentence just summarized my outlook on fashion.
Quite frankly, I wish they'd let us keep our soccer jerseys because i'd definitely wear those....with like some leather pants or something...
